Meet Jan De Sutter, the guy behind RoboClassOnline. Jan is a proud boomer born in ’57 who has been diving into electronic engineering and computer science since the ’70s!
Early days
Back in the day, as a kid, Jan was already building stuff from a Dutch electronics mag called Elektuur. Jan De Sutter’s days in the ’70s were first about studying electronic engineering. But he rode the computer science wave in the ’80s. Picture this: in 1980, Jan’s first taste of programming was solving quadratic equations with ALGOL 68 on an IBM mainframe with a massive 64k of “core memory.” And yeah, programming meant dealing with punched cards. Crazy, right?
Career
Jan De Sutter went from being an electronics engineer to a software project manager and eventually a Chief Information Officer. But around 2013, he detoured from the IT hustle and dove into the softer side of management and leadership. But you know what they say about old dogs and new tricks? Doesn’t really apply to Jan. His love for tech never faded, and stayed up-to-date from the sideline.
Fast forward through the tech rollercoaster. The fundamental hardware principles still rock the Von Neuman architecture. But on the software side, things went wild! As hardware got beefed up, we piled on layers of complexity like a tech Jenga. Enter the Internet, cloud computing, IoT, AI, and robotics – all the cool stuff.
RoboClassOnline
After retiring from the corporate grind, Jan De Sutter circled back to his childhood crush, electronics, and found his way into the world of robotics. And ta-da! RoboClassOnline came to life. It’s Jan’s way of burning the tech flame while enjoying the laid-back vibe of retirement. Cheers to the tech journey, from punched cards to RoboClassOnline!
